"PAPER_
STORIES"

“Paper Stories” transports us to a delicate and evocative universe, where the settings appear to be constructed from fine layers of paper, theatrical backdrops on the verge of fading at the slightest breath of wind. The compositions reveal solitary characters, enigmatic figures in disguise, moving through fragile landscapes, suspended between the real and the imaginary. These characters, trapped in their own isolation, seem to play roles in a play that never gets performed, inviting the viewer to decipher their intentions and emotions. The use of paper as a central motif represents transience, the ephemeral nature of existence, and the fragility of human constructions. The landscapes, often devoid of depth, suggest that these worlds are destined to dissolve, to fold in on themselves. The architectural and natural elements appear to be mere sketches of an unstable reality, where everything can be recreated or destroyed in a continuous theatrical act. The work plays with textures and lighting to enhance the illusion of three-dimensionality in these flat scenes. Paper, crumpled, cut, or folded, becomes a metaphor for life itself, where the wrinkles and folds make the passage of time visible. In this series, solitude is a silent protagonist. The characters, often disguised, wear masks that conceal their true faces, suggesting a duality between what is shown and what is hidden. Nevertheless, their corporeal expressions reveal a latent humanity struggling to emerge amidst the artifice of their environment. “Paper Stories” is a visual reflection on the theatricality of existence, on the constant representation in which we find ourselves immersed, and at the same time, an invitation to contemplate the fragility and inherent beauty of the ephemeral. As spectators, we are enveloped in an atmosphere of nostalgia but also renewal, where paper becomes a symbol of transformation.
